Charter schools are created by parents, teachers and communities working together to provide innovative new choices in public education.  Each charter is designed with:

  • its own rigorous curriculum, approach to learning and programs;
  • small classes to give students greater interaction with
    teachers; and
  • a commitment to giving every child the opportunity to excel.

More than 99,500 elementary, middle and high school students attend Michigan's 229 charter schools.  Parents can enroll their children in any charter, regardless of its location.

Charter schools are publicly funded,
publicly accountable.
